So How Do We #WearTheChange?

When you buy a Swaga Shirt, you are not just going to look incredible as you rock those colours and patterns, your purchase has also contributed to changing and saving lives in Uganda through an incredible chain of events.

You will have helped to pay the salary of the amazing people who make our gorgeous shirts.  Allowing them to be paid well for the creations they are releasing out into the world. They can now pay their rent, feed and support their families, pay the school fees for their children and empower them to break the cycle of generation poverty that will have gone on before them

All of our artisans are graduates from our vocational academy in sewing and tailoring, a project that is part of the Africa Childrens Development Trust (ACDT). 100% of our profits goes directly back into this project and other projects which support women and children in Uganda.

This is truly style with impact and when you purchase and wear your Swaga Shirt you are contributing to changing and saving lives.  Your purchase starts the most amazing ripple effect of good, bringing hope and possibility to so many.

WHERE STYLE MEETS IMPACT!

Ndeeba Primary School

Ndeeba Primary School is nestled in the slum area of Ndeeba, Kampala. With approximately 280 pupils it holds it's own amongst the schools in Uganda, with previous students becoming local councillors and with an amazing track record in sports.

This is a huge achievement considering the school has the tiniest of outdoor space and is a credit to the teaching staff who whilst navigating their own challenges support the children so well.

WHERE STYLE MEETS IMPACT!

The Chrysalis Vocational Academy

Our project Chrysalis Uganda supports women to learn a vocational skill, currently either hairdressing or sewing and tailoring. On graduating we then support them further if they want to start their own businesses through microfinancing and ongoing business support. The Chrysalis Vocational Academy also provides this vocational training to children in class Primary 6 (approx 12 years old) to enable them to learn a skill, that can help them generate an income to support themselves or to help fund continued education.

WHERE STYLE MEETS IMPACT!

Project Sleep Safe

Imagine a place where whilst you are sleeping, a mosquio could bite you and this could lead to the often fatal disease that is malaria. In 2022 75% of the 608,000 deaths from malaria were children under 5 years old, with Uganda being one of the most prevalent of the Africa countries.

Sleeping under a mosquito net is still one of the safest ways to protect children from malaria. To date the ACDT have distributed over 30,000 nets.

The Dignity Project

In the western world, having access to sanitary wear is something we just don't give a second thought to, but in the developing world, sanitary wear is a luxury item. Many young girls struggle to maintain their dignity and hygiene every month, navigating their monthly cycle without access to sanitary products. So within our vocational academy, our sewing students make re-usable sanitary wear that we are then able to donate to young girls in the surrounding community and beyond.
